USS Enterprise: Owners Workshop Manual will be published in September.— AFP-Relaxnews picNEW YORK, May 21 — The sci-fi cult phenomenon that is Star Trek is set to be spotlighted in a number of upcoming book releases, according to an announcement by US industry resource Publishers Marketplace on May 18. The title will include a series of young adults’ books, an image-filled guide, and an owners’ manual for the USS Enterprise.

In March, Pocket released The Needs of Many, based on Star Trek Online, a role-playing game that launched in February. Other upcoming titles, all released in partnership with the Star Trek franchise, include:

Star Trek 365, by Paula M. Block, “the definitive, authorised guide” to Star Trek, in hard-cover, with never-before-seen images, newly commissioned photography, and remastered stills (Abrams, September).

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, a series for young aults “filled with romance and adventure” in paperback, hard-cover, and e-book formats (Simon & Schuster, November).

USS Enterprise Manual, a user’s guide complete with “cutaway drawings, technical illustrations and photographs along with comprehensive background information and specifications on the technology used on board the USS Enterprise” (Haynes Publishing, September).

In addition, a forthcoming book from Quirk Books will focus not just on the Starship Enterprise but on its notoriously devoted fans. Kevin Anderson’s Night of the Living Trekkies will be a mash-up novel “mixing a zombie apocalypse with the enduring mythology of Star Trek.” That title is due out in September. — AFP-Relaxnews
