Anwar calls Khairy ‘hound dog’, explains Zionist ‘apology’

KUALA LUMPUR, July 1 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today hit back at Khairy Jamaluddin, calling him a “hound dog” who barks for Umno.

“It’s like a tradition to hound me, like the song Hound Dog,” said the Opposition Leader.

The Umno Youth chief earlier today called Anwar a “chameleon extraordinaire” for allegedly flip-flopping on his stand against Zionism.

Khairy was referring to a Washington Post article this week which quoted Anwar as saying that he was “regretful” over his anti-Zionist attacks which was picked up in today’s Utusan Malaysia.

However, Anwar explained that during his recent lecture in the United States he was questioned about his stand on Zionism.

“I explained that I was against it because it means imperialism, aggression and Jewish expansion.”

However, he was told by Americans and Jews there that Zionism was actually about a permanent Jewish homeland.

“So I said I had a different interpretation of what Zionism meant.”

Anwar said he had explained his stand and they had accepted it.

He hit out at Utusan Malaysia for nitpicking.

“I also said  the world had had it with Israel’s aggression but that was not picked up by Utusan Malaysia.”
