Bribery: Former co-operative GM pleads not guilty

JOHOR BARU, Aug 7 — A former general manager of Koperasi Sinarjaya Bandar Tenggara Kulaijaya pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to a charge of accepting a bribe of RM2,900 two years ago.

Azman Anas, 40, is charged with accepting the bribe from Oong Ah Lee as an inducement to approve an application for a permit to remove rocks at Lot PTD 4153 Mukim Ulu Sungai Johor, Kota Tinggi.

He is alleged to have committed the offence at the Marrybrown Restaurant in Jalan Susur 3, off Jalan Pejabat Kerajaan, Kulaijaya at 12.40pm on October 20, 2010.

Judge Mohamad Haidar Abdul Aziz allowed Azman bail of RM7,000 in one surety and set September 3 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor Nur Fazlin Hamdan had requested for bail at RM10,00, but lawyer Noorul Ameen Abdul Salam, representing Azman, said her client did not have a permanent job and had a wife who is not working and three children, aged between three and seven years old, to support. — Bernama
