Zahid extends olive branch to Umno turncoats

IPOH, May 8 — Umno members who had turned their backs on the party during the last general election should come back to their senses and help strengthen party unity to face the next general election, Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said Umno leaders and loyal members had forgiven those who had left the party and were willing to take them back.

“We are allowed to have different opinions, but this kind of opinions should be conveyed in a proper manner. Use the online media to attack your political enemy, not to attack each other in the blog, Facebook and Twitter,” he told reporters after opening the simultaneous meeting of the whole of Perak Umno branches at the Stadium Indera Mulia, here today.

He said as the main pillar in the Barisan Nasional (BN), Umno should stay united and strong by undivided support from its members and leaders.

At the same time, Ahmad Zahid said BN component parties should also solve their domestic problems so that it would not affect the BN and the people’s faith in the party. — Bernama
