LONDON, Jan 27 — English pop trio Saint Etienne emerges in The Hype Machine’s most blogged artists chart today with the release of a comeback single from their upcoming eighth album. Also bloggers continue to mourn the loss of soulful blues legend Etta James, who died last Friday at the age of 73.

Saint Etienne is set to release their first studio album in seven years — so far there is no title or release date. This week they released the “glossy pop powerhouse” (The Line of Best Fit) single “Tonight.” “The effervescent tune is produced by Tim Powell (Xenomania) and mixed by Richard X — two of the best British contemporary electro-pop whizzes,” adds blogger Pop Labyrinth.

Pioneering American blues singer Etta James, who flitted effortlessly from jazz, pop standards and love ballads to feisty R&B, has been a hot topic in the blogs since her death, with bloggers swapping her tracks including “Only Women Bleed,” “I’d Rather Go Blind,” and “Stormy Weather.” She could “sing with searing soul that simultaneously strikes fear and sorrow and strength into the hearts of anyone who hears her voice,” writes blogger Boogie Woogie Flu.
