10 fatalities on first day of Ops Sikap 22

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 – Ten fatalities were recorded on day one of Ops Sikap 22 yesterday.

Federal police public relations chief Supt Rasdi Ramli in a statement here said seven were motorcyclists, two involved car occupants and the other a lorry driver.

He said 1,121 accidents were recorded yesterday with municipal roads recording the highest number at 475 cases, followed by federal roads (281 cases), state roads (183 cases), highways (115 cases) and other roads (67 cases) while a total of 9,625 summonses were issued.

Ops Sikap 22 was launched to reduce road accidents during the Aidilfitri festive period and will end on September 17. – Bernama
