KAJANG, June 29 — The Sessions Court here today postponed to July 6 its judgment on a bribery case involving a Selangor Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) assistant enforcement officer.   

Judge Azhaniz Teh Azman Teh, who was scheduled to hear counter-submissions from the prosecution and defence on the three charges against M. Mohan, postponed his decision as both parties were not prepared.  

Mohan, 39, is charged with two counts of soliciting RM250,000 and agreeing to receive a RM200,000 bribe from A. Sinnaiah as an inducement to halt ongoing investigations on him (Sinnaiah) for allegedly bribing someone at the National Registration and Immigration departments.     

The two offences were said to have been committed at the Selangor MACC office in Plaza Masalam, Shah Alam on October 22, 2009.     

On the third count, the accused allegedly received RM5,000 from Sinnaiah for the same purpose, at a restaurant in Pandan Indah, Selangor, on October 25, 2009.  

Mohan faces up to 20 years’ jail and a fine five times the bribe or RM10,000 whichever is higher, upon conviction under the MACC Act 2009. — Bernama
