KUALA LIPIS, Sept 6 — Tengku Mahkota of Pahang Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah today reminded the Muslims not to practise segregation because it could affect the Muslim ummah (community) as a whole.
He said living in segregation would only put the Muslims at the losing end while people of other religions were united and progressed.
“Muslims should be brave enough to take up challenges and compete with others if they want to be strong and well-developed, like during the time of Prophet Muhammad,” he said when opening the Saidina Ali Mosque in Kampung Bapong, Padang Tengku here yesterday.
He also called on the mosque’s committee to organise more activities in a bid to lure larger congregation to the mosque, especially among the younger generation.
“The big and beautiful mosque will be a waste if it is not popularised with various religious activities. The role of the mosque’s committee is not only to ensure that the daily mass prayers and weekly Friday prayers were held, but also to organise other religious activities,” he added. — Bernama
