KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 16 — Chief Secretary to the Government Datuk Seri Ali Hamsa has instructed the Public Service Department and Intan to stop endurance training for administrative and diplomatic officers (PTD) trainees and non-uniform officers pursuing a diploma of public administration with immediate effect.
This followed the death of a PTD cadet, Aldy Hasni Abu Hasan while undergoing training in Pekan, Pahang today, said Ali (picture) in a posting on Facebook today.
“I have also directed JPA and Intan to investigate and submit a report on the incident,” he said while expressing condolences to Aldy’s family on behalf of the civil service.
Meanwhile, Pekan police chief Supt Yahya Othman said Aldy Hasni, 35, who was married with two children and based at the Defence Ministry drowned while undergoing training at the Territorial Army Force 136 Camp.
“The victim and other 243 officers were crossing a canal near Sungai Miang near here at about 2.30pm when he was believed to have fallen in the water.
“The trainer pulled him out of the water and used CPR before rushing him to the hospital. But he was confirmed dead at around 3pm, and the post mortem revealed that the cause of death was drowning,” he told Bernama today.
