Former Tanah Merah MP among trio suspended from Umno

Sep 01, 2010

TANAH MERAH, Sept 1 – Three Tanah Merah Umno Division members, including a former Member of Parliament for Tanah Merah Datuk Shaari Hassan have been suspended from Umno for three years, said Umno division secretary Ahmad Ismail.

He said two others were acting division chief Nik Kamarulzaman Sulong and former Umno Youth division committee member Bahari Mohd Nor.

Ahmad said Shaari was suspended from August 10 while Nik Kamarulzaman and Bahari from August 12.

“However, the Umno Disciplinary Board’s Tribunal did not mention the reasons for their suspension,” Ahmad told reporters here today.

He said the letters signed by Umno general-secretary Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor dated August 30 stated that the trio were found guilty by the tribunal which met on August 27.

Ahmad said Shaari was prohibited from running for elective office in the party or contest in state and general elections while Nik Kamarulzaman and Bahari were barred from voting, running for elective office in the party and being appointed for any party position.

In March, former Tanah Merah Umno division secretary Amran Abdul Rahman was sacked from Umno for filing a suit against division chief Datuk Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz and his deputy, Baharuddin Yusof. – Bernama
