SERDANG, Sept 1 – The police are looking for an Indonesian maid in connection with the death of a toddler in Pusat Bandar Puchong last Friday.
Serdang police chief Supt Abd Razak Elias said 15-month-old Tan Jin Yong was found dead with strangulation marks at about 4pm by a relative.
He said the toddler’s father, Tan Meng Kiang, 40, got a call from the maid, telling him that his son was unconscious and asked a relative to take the boy to a private hospital in Bandar Puteri, Puchong but he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The maid also accompanied the toddler to the hospital but disappeared after that, Abd Razak told reporters after launching a crime prevention campaign and attending the breaking of fast with the media at the Sri Serdang police station here today.
He said the police initially classified the case as sudden death but change it to murder under Section 302 of the Pedal Code after an autopsy report showed that there were criminal elements in the death of the victim.
The autopsy report shows that the toddler suffered bleeding in the brain and had lung infections as well as signs of old fractures in the legs, he said.
The police are looking for Rita Rohayati, 25, from Majalingka, West Java to help in the investigation into the case. – Bernama
