KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 4 – The Special Aidilfitri Farmers’ Markets, which open nationwide from today, will also sell controlled items like cooking oil, flour and sugar, Agriculture and Agrobased Industry Minister Datuk Seri Noh Omar said.
He said the goods could be bought at 40 of the 130 special farmers’ markets.
The special farmers’ markets at 40 locations had been issued licences by the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry to sell the items, he told reporters after visiting the special market at Taman Melawati, Hulu Klang, here today.
He said the 130 special farmers’ markets were in addition to the existing 418 farmers’ markets set up nationwide.
In another development, he assured sufficient coconut supply for Hari Raya, adding that the Federal Agriculture Marketing Authority (Fama) had imported 2.6 million coconuts from Indonesia for the purpose. – Bernama
