PUTRAJAYA, July 27 – The government may extend the “SMS Take N Go” pharmacy service for the public to obtain medicines, to all its hospitals and clinics in the country soon.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan said the move followed encouraging public response to the service at the Putrajaya Hospital, 14 health clinics in the Federal Territory and another 62 such clinics in Kedah.

He said 192 outpatients in the Federal Territory had been using the service since July 12 and 202 in Kedah since April 27.

“If the public response keeps increasing, the SMS Take N Go initiative will be extended to other hospitals and health clinics,” he told a news conference after opening the public sector’s Chief Information Officers Conference, here, today.

Mohd Sidek said the SMS Take N Go initiative was a combination of the queue and SMS systems for the public to get their medications and it was first implemented at Putrajaya Hospital.

“The facility is only for repeat patients where they can book the medicines through SMS, or through the phone or email and collect them another day.”

He said the time had come for government departments and agencies to find how services could be fully delivered via online and not just by downloading forms.

Earlier, in his speech, Mohd Sidek said the e-Filing facility, checking of results of entry into public higher learning institutions, e-Declare facility of the Customs Department and workers’ registration status were government online services which recorded the highest usage from April to June this year.

During that period, e-Filing recorded 1.2 million transactions and checking of entries into public higher learning institutions, at 12.2 million.

The e-Declare recorded 776,275 transactions and workers’ registration status, 537,048 transactions.

At the same function, Mohd Sidek also launched the MyGovXchange which provides a single solution for individuals and organisations to conduct online transactions with the ministries and government agencies, and also functions as a public service gateway delivering government services. – Bernama
