KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — This Mother’s Day, three women will celebrate the role of women through their art. Ng Kim Heoh, Tan See Ling and Tan Sock Chin will share with us their love, passion and gratitude in an exhibition titled “Our Love, Our Passion, Our Gratitude.”
“This exhibition is to highlight the important role of women in art. We chose Mother’s Day because being a mother is the most important and recognisable role a woman plays in life,” said S. Jamal Al-Idrus, co-owner of Artemis Art, where the exhibition will be held.
Ng Kim Heoh is “like a movie director who writes his own script... setting the scene... putting the actors in their proper roles... instilling concepts” with the subjects that she paints. Her inspirations are drawn from real life objects, such as the pear which takes on an iconic human form for her art.
With a passion for children, Tan See Ling is an expressionist artist who creates new characters for her art. She was a designer for Royal Selangor International and she studied early childhood education, specialising in art and music for children.
Tan conducts art workshops for children with special needs and she opened Thumb Art Studio in 2006, sharing her love for art with people from all walks of life.
Chinese brush ink paintings are Tan Sock Chin’s specialty, and from her details and artwork, you can see the artistic capability that has been developed over the years. Tan draws inspiration from the feelings of joy and happiness and in every brush stroke, you can see these elements.
“Our Love, Our Passion, Our Gratitude” will run from May 8 to June 8, 2012 and it will be held at Artemis Art , A1-1-3 Solaris Dutamas, No. 1 Jalan Dutamas 1, 50480 Kuala Lumpur.
