Sep 07, 2010

LONDON, Sept 7 – Horror movie ‘The Last Exorcism’ has knocked Adam Sandler’s comedy “Grown Ups” off the UK box office top spot after just one week, according to Screen International today.

The story of a troubled evangelical minister who agrees to let his last exorcism be filmed by a documentary crew took just £1.1 million (RM5.27 million) on its debut.

But it was enough to keep another newcomer, “Dinner for Schmucks” with Steve Carell, down in second spot.

Disney’s “Toy Story 3” stayed at three, with “Grown Ups” down at four.

Romantic comedy “Scott Pilgrim Vs The World” fell three places to five while “The Switch” with Jennifer Aniston as a woman who turns to sperm donation to get pregnant, came in at six.

Sylvester Stallone in mercenary movie “The Expendables” was down three at seven, with Angelina Jolie as a CIA agent in “Salt” slipping to eight from five.

Horror movie “Piranha 3D” was down at nine from six, with sci-fi thriller “Inception” down at 10 from seven. – Reuters
