Scarlett Johansson to make feature directorial debut

Nov 19, 2011

LOS ANGELES, Nov 19 – Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2) will step behind the camera with a feature film project she will direct called Summer Crossing, a novel by the late acclaimed author Truman Capote, reported Variety.

It will be produced in association with the Truman Capote Literary Trust.

The actress (picture) previously shot a film short, “These Vagabond Shoes,” which was added as a bonus on the New York, I Love You DVD.

The novel was published posthumously in 2005, though it had originally been written in 1943. Set during a hot summer in New York City in 1945, the class romance focuses on an 18-year-old socialite who has a romance with a parking attendant.

Playwright Tristin Skyler, who is adapting the Sylvia Plath classic The Bell Jar for Julia Stiles (The Bourne Ultimatum), will write the screenplay.

Johansson will co-star with Matt Damon in We Bought a Zoo by director Cameron Crowe, to be released December 23 in North America, and will be seen as the Black Widow in May of 2012 with The Avengers starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America and Chris Hemsworth as Thor. – AFP
