Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’
LOS ANGELES, May 9 — The first trailer for the political drama Argo, starring Ben Affleck who also directs the film, was released May 8.
The film is based on a true tale about the rescue of six American diplomats held hostage in Iran during 1979, by concocting a scheme about making a movie. The Canadian government partnered with the US to convince Iran that the hostages were members of a film crew in the country to research a film.
Affleck plays the CIA specialist who concocts the plan, staging the fake film that allows the hostages to escape from the Canadian ambassador’s home in Tehran under false identities.
The intriguing and amusing film also stars John Goodman (The Artist) and Bryan Cranston (John Carter, Rock of Ages).
Argo releases on October 12.
