LOS ANGELES, Dec 1 — The Academy has included Bryce Dallas Howard's When You Find Me among contenders for the live-action short film category at the 2013 Oscars.
At 31, Bryce Dallas Howard follows in the footsteps of her father Ron Howard now that her second short (after 2006's Orchids) has a nod from the Academy. When You Find Me boasts a distinct visual style and opens with a scene showing a young boy asking his pregnant mother if he will like his baby brother, leading to another question about the mother's siblings. The question prompts a flashback in which the mother reminisces about her childhood with her own sister, and how both of them reacted differently to the death of their mother.
Howard (who starred in The Help) is just one of 11 candidates currently in the running for the trophy, alongside Buzakashi Boys by Sam French, Henry by Yan England and 9meter by Anders Walther.
The final selection of five shorts will be revealed on January 10, during the official announcement of nominees for the Academy Awards 2013.
