Gerard Butler in soccer mom rom-com
LOS ANGELES, Aug 9 — The first trailer for “Playing for Keeps” shows Scottish actor Gerard Butler in the role of a former soccer star who settles in the US suburbs as a youth coach.
The rom-com was recently revealed by FilmDistrict as a Yahoo! Movies exclusive. It shows Gerard Butler as a former Celtic FC star who struggles to get back on track. His life starts to have meaning again when he becomes a little league soccer coach for his son’s team.
The foreign coach gets plenty of attention from the players’ mothers and deals with his relationship with his son’s mother, played by Jessica Biel.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, Uma Thurman and Dennis Quaid are also part of the cast of Italian director Gabriele Muccino’s (“The Pursuit of Happyness”) latest production. “Playing for Keeps” is heading for a September 7 launch in North American theatres.
