They are set to release a trilogy of albums titled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! between September 2012 and January 2013, according to an April 11 press release and a YouTube video from the band.
“We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives,” Green Day said in the statement. “This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming. Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can't help ourselves.”
Last February, frontman Billie Joe Armstrong announced the band's return to the studio: “Happy Valentine's day! Officially started recording the new record today. It's Fxxx Time!!!!”
¡Uno! – which drops September 25 – will be the band's first studio album since 2009's Grammy Award winning 21st Century Breakdown. ¡Dos! and ¡Tré! will follow on November 13 and January 15, respectively.
Green Day is scheduled to play several music festivals this summer, with confirmed dates including Tokyo’s Japan Summer Sonic festival on August 18 and 19 and Rock en Seine in Paris on August 26. Also, the band will play at Rock am See in Konstanz, Germany, on September 1 and I-Day Festival in Bologna, Italy, on September 2. More dates are expected to be announced. — AFP-Relaxnews
