Earning US$67 million (RM208 million) in 58 countries, Christopher Nolan’s epilogue to the DC Comics trilogy is still ruling outside of North America. “The Dark Knight Rises” is also a force to be reckoned with in the US and Canada, collecting US$36.4 million during its third weekend. The blockbuster starring Christian Bale has amassed US$733 million across the world since its launch.

In second place, “Ice Age: Continental Drift” earned US$32.8 million outside of North America. Mark Wahlberg’s shenanigans in “Ted” (directed by Seth MacFarlane) earned the comedy US$32 million in 20 countries (North America excluded), good enough for third place at the international box office. It enjoyed a warm reception by the British, who spent US$14.3 million in tickets.

Two animation films follow in its wake: “Brave” (fourth) and “Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted” (fifth), which respectively raked in US$16.5 million and US$15.8 million. — AFP/Relaxnews
