Mark Wahlberg joins ‘Transformers 4’

NEW YORK, Nov 10 — Mark Wahlberg will follow Shia LaBeouf as the main headliner of the upcoming instalment of the Transformers franchise, announced its director Michael Bay.

The American filmmaker used his website,, to make Wahlberg’s (picture) participation in “Transformers 4” official. Previously Shia LaBeouf and Josh Duhamel have taken lead roles in the franchise.

“Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on ‘Pain and Gain’ and I’m so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his calibre is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers’ legacy,” said Bay.

They’ll start shooting “Transformers 4” in spring 2013. At the end of April, Wahlberg and Bay will promote their latest collaboration, “Pain and Gain”, a dark comedy on a bloody extortion scheme involving a group of bodybuilders. — AFP-Relaxnews
