A zealous sub-editor on the nation’s top-selling English-language paper had inadvertently lowered the rapper’s value when he (or she) took the initiative to convert the Billboard-ranking star moniker into local currency by adding in brackets RM1.50 immediately after his name in a Reuters report of hip-hop’s richest according to Forbes.

50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, is actually valued at US$260 million (RM795 million).

The Star group chief editor Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai acknowledged the blunder in his Twitter account today.

“Yup, saw the RM1.50 error. Malu. We’re going to force the sub-editor, who is abt 58 years old, I think, to listen to rap music!” he tweeted on @chunwai09 in reply to Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin’s Twitter handle (@Khairykj).
