Sharon Stone joins Sarandon for ‘Mother’s Day’

July 06, 2012

LOS ANGELES, July 6 — In the tradition of films like “New Year's Eve” and “Valentine's Day”, the latest holiday to get the film treatment will be “Mother's Day” and Sharon Stone is the newest addition to the cast.

Sharon Stone — AFP/Shaun CurryStone joins Susan Sarandon (“Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”), Andie MacDowell (“Footloose”) and Christina Ricci (“Bel Ami”).

Also cast is Sarandon's daughter, Eva Amurri Martino, as well as Rainey Qualley, who is MacDowell's real-life daughter.

The story follows 12 sets of mothers and daughters over the course of a single Mother's Day, so there will be more announcements of mother-daughter pairings to come.

It will be the first feature film for writer-director Paul Duddridge, best known for the British TV series “Annually Retentive”.

Stone will next be seen in “Lovelace” co-starring Amanda Seyfried.

Sarandon will star in the Wachowskis' sci-fi mystery Cloud Atlas co-starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant, due in theatres this October.

The film is, not surprisingly, scheduled for released May 10, 2013, the weekend before Mother's Day. — AFP/Relaxnews
