They said in a statement they had arrested 11 people, including two minors, on Friday evening and 10 people last evening after festival-goers attacked security guards at the two-week festival which ended yesterday.

The drunken crowds threw bottles, rocks and chairs at police and security guards, injuring one guard seriously and several others slightly. Several cars were damaged, the statement said.

Carlos Santana and Sting were among the artists who played the 45th annual Montreux Jazz Festival on Lake Geneva, which draws about 250,000 people a year. — Reuters
