Opening with Johnny Cash’s rendition of the song “Ain’t No Grave,” the footage shows Waltz as he takes a slave, played by Foxx in the titular role, to join his bounty hunting business.
As the trailer unfolds, they are in search of the Brittle brothers, and in exchange, Waltz will help locate Django’s kidnapped wife, played by Kerry Washington (The Last King of Scotland), and free the couple. DiCaprio is seen as a plantation owner, Calvin Candie, with Django’s wife.
A violent journey of revenge ensues and ends in a bar scene, where spaghetti western star Franco Nero is seen in an encounter with Foxx.
Django Unchained opens in North America December 25, followed worldwide in January and in Japan in March.
