
The settlement has been reached in the battle between the Weinstein Company and Relativity Pictures over remake and distribution rights to the gothic thriller. The two companies have agreed to work on the film together, according to entertainment news site The Wrap.
Spanish director F. Javier Gutierrez ("Before the Fall" or "Tres Dias") has signed on to direct the comic book adaptation, it was announced January 24.
The story follows a musician who is murdered when he tries to protect his fiancée from attack and then comes back to life to avenge the killing.
During the production of the original film, directed by Alex Proyas (Knowing), Brandon Lee was accidentally killed.
