‘The Dark Knight Rises’ rakes in US$800 million globally
LOS ANGELES, Aug 14 — Three weeks after its launch, the concluding chapter of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy has grossed more than US$800 million (RM2.5 billion) around the world.
Since it hit North American theatres on July 20, 2012 “The Dark Knight Rises” has raked in US$834.4 million, which makes it the 30th most lucrative production of all time. It has grossed US$445.3 million outside of North America and US$390.1 million in the US and Canada combined.
"The Dark Knight Rises" is living up to its name by soaring towards the success enjoyed by its predecessor “The Dark Knight” (2008). The previous film of the trilogy boasts global box-office earnings of a billion dollars, which puts it among the dozen most lucrative productions of all time. — AFP/Relaxnews
