Top 10 VOD films in the US: ‘Chipmunks’ and ‘Zoo’ top list
LOS ANGELES, April 25 — The top watched video-on-demand (VOD) films were announced Monday by Rentrak based on data collected over the period April 9-15, with Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked leading the pack.
The kids’ animated sequel tops the list as spring school breaks continue. Also, the family-friendly We Bought a Zoo, starring Matt Damon and Scarlet Johansson and directed by Cameron Crowe, came in second place.
Two films that were newly released on April 10 — the horror movie The Darkest Hour and the political drama The Iron Lady starring Oscar winner Meryl Streep as British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher — join the list for the first time.
Low US box-office earners with only US$21 million (RM64.26 million) (Darkest Hour) and close to US$30 million (Iron Lady), the films hould enjoy a bump in income as VODs.
