The Subra flip-flop — Gomen Man
MAY 30 — Dr S Subramaniam, the Human Resources Minister, is a favourite of the prime minister.
Because he does not thump the table or make a case for Indians in strong terms; basically he goes with the flow set by Najib Razak and does not like to rock the boat.
So if Umno and the government says that Ambiga Sreenevasan is a threat and demonise her and if the Umno sponsored petty traders flip burgers outside the home of the vegetarian and army veterans do bum exercises in front of her home, don't expect Subramaniam to rise to her defence.
He must follow his masters. That is why yesterday he said that the attacks against her were not racially-motivated but due to her Bersih links.
Of course, Subramaniam got skewered by netizens and word got back to him that Indians were pissed off with his dismissive comments.
So today, he says that Ambiga must be protected. Is it any surprise that Umno loves this guy?
That is why one of the truisms of Malaysian politics is this: MIC serves at the pleasure of Umno and serves Umno.
