Pedrosa wins tragic San Marino Grand Prix

ROME, Sept 5 — Spain’s Dani Pedrosa led from the start to win Sunday’s San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix on another sad day for the sport after reports a Japanese rider had died following a crash in an earlier race.

Honda’s Pedrosa, second in the overall standings, finished ahead of championship leader and compatriot Jorge Lorenzo with world champion Valentino Rossi coming in third.

Japanese rider Shoya Tomizawa died in hospital after suffering a shocking crash in the earlier Moto2 race when he was hit by two other bikes, reports said. — Reuters
