
Launched yesterday, the world’s largest chicken chain announced that it’ll be issuing 20 random tweets from @KFC_Colonel until the end of February, with each post containing a link to a “secret page” on KFC.com. The first 50 people to enter their email address will be sent a US$5 (RM15.50) gift certificate for a meal at KFC.
Posts will also be announced on Facebook.
Meanwhile, in a different kind of viral campaign altogether, KFC Malaysia is in operation damage control after a video uploaded on YouTube last week captured a brawl involving employees and customers when the restaurant ran out of chicken early on in the night.
On its Facebook page, KFC Malaysia noted the employee — who was charged with assault after the customer was punched in the face — has been suspended and a police investigation is under way.
Last year, Twitter said that the McLobster sandwich from McDonald’s, sold in a limited number of outlets in the US, and Starbucks’ Trenta cup size — the largest coffee cup size at 31 oz — were the most popular hashtags in the food and drink category for all of 2011. — AFP-Relaxnews
