TOKYO, Jan 25 — Sony has refreshed its Vaio Z series laptop. The ultra-light laptop now comes in a new Carbon Silver colour and has additional CPU options and hardware enhancements.

Consumers can now choose to add built-in LTE 4G mobile broadband to their laptop or add additional power with the latest second generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors and RAID 0 solid state drives (SSD).

Sony’s S series laptops have also been given an overhaul. Both the 13” and 15” feature new CPUs. The 15” will also now come with a 15.5” Full HD display (1920 x 1080) with IPS technology for improved image quality and viewing angles.

The Z Series is priced from US$1949.99 (RM6,062) and ships with a Power Media Dock drive which features Light Peak high-speed I/O data transfers and extra connectivity.

The 13” S Series will be priced from US$799. The 15” S Series will start at US$979 and will ship with a Full HD display and Intel Core i5 processor as standard. The improved S Series laptops will be available starting early February.

The updates come as a deluge of thin and light ultrabooks —including the HP Envy 14 Spectre, the Acer Aspire S5 and LG’s Super Ultrabook Z330 — are due to arrive on the market. Samsung has just put the final touches on its second-generation Samsung Notebook Series 9 ultrabook too, which is due to go on sale from February 27. — afprelaxnews.com
