The online marketplace allows both professional and amateur photographers to set up their own shop on the web and to sell photographs — that once lived on their smartphone — to buyers all over the world.

“Just a few weeks ago, we were joking: I’d love to buy your pictures on Instagram. We wanted to sell our own Instagram artwork, and were tired of hanging mass-produced art on the walls of our apartments,” Instacanv.as CEO Matt Munson told Forbes.

Instacanv.as officially launched on May 9 but has already built a large following with approximately 1.1 million unique visitors hitting the site per month.

Instacanv.as is not alone in the Instagram photo printing industry, but Munson told VentureBeat it hopes to cut out a niche for itself by building an active community and helping artists promote and sell their own work.

Similar services that will turn your own Instagram photos into works of art include Instagram-to-photo paper service Hashpix, Instagram to minibook and T-shirt printer Prinstagr.am, and digital photo to canvas printer CanvasPop. — AFP-Relaxnews
