Sony’s Cyber-shot DSC-TX200V compact camera is a flagship device that follows an emerging trend of glass-plated gadgets. The TX200V features a reinforced glass design on the front and a 3.3” Xtra Fine Tru-Black OLED touch screen on the back. It packs in an impressive 18.2 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor (the highest-resolution sensor currently found on a point and shoot camera), on-board creative editing settings, and a 5x optical zoom. It is waterproof up to 5 meters, dustproof, and freezeproof down to -10 degrees Celsius. The TX200V will arrive in stores in March and will be priced at US$500 (RM1,510).

Two point-and-shoot cameras with 16.2 MP sensors
Sony is also releasing the Cyber-shot DSC-WX70 and DSC-WX50 point and shoot cameras. Both cameras feature a 16.2 MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, full HD video, a 5x optical zoom and nine different picture effect modes. The WX50 is priced at US$200 and comes with a 2.7” LCD screen. The WX70 is US$30 more expensive and comes with a slightly bigger (3”) touch screen. Both cameras will be available in March.

A compact camera with the longest zoom lens in the market
The Nikon Coolpix P510 compact camera has a huge 42x optical zoom-NIKKOR ED glass lens enabling photographers to zoom in on the action. The camera features superior image stabilisation, a 16.1MP CMOS sensor, full HD 1080p video recording, stereo sound, built-in GPS, and a 3” display. The Coolpix P510 will be available in February for $429.95.

A camera that excels in low light conditions
The smaller Nikon Coolpix P310 is built for night owls that want to take photos in low-light conditions. The P310 features a F1.8 maximum aperture, a 16.1MP CMOS sensor, VR image stabilisation, manual exposure control, a 3” LCD screen, full HD 1080p video capture, stereo sound, and special nighttime shooting modes. The COOLPIX P310 will also be available in February 2012 for US$329.95.

A new addition to the Galaxy S lineup
The latest addition to Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphone range is the Galaxy S Advance. The handset runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and sports a dual-core 1GHz processor, a 4” Super AMOLED display, 5MP and 1.3MP cameras, and Samsung’s ChatON cross-platform communication service. The Samsung Galaxy S Advance will arrive in Russia in February. A gradual rollout is then planned for other CIS countries, Europe, Africa, Middle East, Southeast and Southwest Asia, Latin America and China. Pricing has not been announced but it is expected to fall in the mid- to low-end smartphone pricing bracket.

A pink 3DS for Valentine’s Day
Nintendo is releasing a Pearl Pink 3DS handheld gaming console that will arrive just in time for Valentine’s Day. The 3DS will feature the same features as Nintendo’s existing 3DS The portable device, which was previously only available in a limited-edition bundle, will be available from February 10 for US$169.99.
