DirectRooms launches hotel meta-search site in Malay

Hotel meta-search site DirectRooms just launched its multiple language options adding Bahasa Malaysia onto its platform.

To appeal to the national and international demand for travel, DirectRooms has unveiled a dedicated Bahasa Malaysia language option to compare real time pricing and availability for over 253,000 worldwide hotels across 270 hotel booking sites.

“Our team of native born Malaysian speakers worked on the translation and localisation of the meta-search content to optimise accuracy,” commented Alex Lotz, Managing Director of DirectRooms. “No more lost in translation for our Malaysian users around the world,” added Lotz.

The launch of the Bahasa Malaysia version is part of the DirectRooms expansion in the international arena. This will be enhanced by reaching a total of 34 languages in the next few months.

DirectRooms focus is to offer travellers, whether booking domestically or internationally, a comprehensive site with unbiased pricing on hotels rooms.

The number of Internet users in Malaysia is expected to grow from 18 million last year to 25 million in 2015, according to the Malaysian Finance Ministry.

Latest statistics provided by the Malaysian government show that residents are in a better position to travel abroad due to the improving economy, better purchasing power and weakening foreign currencies. Outbound tourism is growing at an annual rate of 3% partly due to the increase of low cost air carriers that are expanding internationally.

According to Ericsson ConsumerLab’s latest figures, smartphone penetration in Malaysia has surged to 63% and smartphone users are expected to quadruple by 2018.

Lotz stated, “We are keen to increase our market share in countries where online travel is surging, by adding Bahasa Malaysia we have in effect reached out to a new potential audience of approximately 20 million users, with real deals in their own language and currency.”

The launch of the Bahasa Malaysia site is the latest in a series of new developments at DirectRooms that recently launched its proprietary hotel mapping function, added TripAdvisor reviews, included Pay Now – Pay at Hotel and no credit card needed to book option, developed a multi-grid function for choice of search displays and integrated the “Smart Deal” finder algorithm. – May 12, 2014.
