LONDON, March 9 — Looking for luxury accommodations on a modest budget? A new report suggests looking towards destinations such as Budapest and Warsaw, where £100 (RM475) could buy you a five-star hotel room in 2012.
According to Hotels.com’s annual Hotel Price Index, a price comparison report of 155,000 properties around the world last year, the Eastern European cities of Budapest, Hungary and Warsaw, Poland were the cheapest destinations in which to find luxury accommodations at bargain prices.
Other cities that provided more bang for a traveller’s buck included Shanghai, Buenos Aires, Delhi, Prague and Dubai, all destinations where £100 could buy four-star accommodations.
At the other end of the spectrum, meanwhile, £100 didn’t get visitors to New York very far last year, as the same amount of money bought a single-starred room in the Big Apple.
Similarly, the best a £100 could net in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, Paris, Oslo, Singapore and Zurich were double-starred accommodations in 2012.
Here are some of the world’s top cities in which £100 could buy a five- or four-star hotel room in 2012:
