What I Think

June 18, 2012

JUNE 18 — Nobody wants to testify at the Hanif panel except for veteran journalist R. Nadeswaran. So the panel had to request that the two journalists covering the inquiry today testify too. Why the lack of interest? Perhaps because it is in Putrajaya? Or that nobody trusts it to figure out the events at the April 28 rally. Have any inquiries ever helped to make Malaysia a better place? How did we even get to Bersih 3.0? Was there a need for 967 tear-gas rounds after several reviews to create a friendlier police force? Do we need to chew more fat about this or simply put in place a world-class police force capable of keeping the peace and letting fellow Malaysians have their say, peacefully?
