N.Korea says February deal with US no longer binding

April 17, 2012

SEOUL, April 17 — North Korea’s foreign ministry said today that its February agreement with the United States to suspend its nuclear weapons tests and allow international nuclear inspectors back into the country was no longer binding.

In its first response to the UN Security Council’s warning over its long-range rocket launch late last week, North Korea said in a statement carried by the official KCNA news agency that it was now “free from” the agreement because the United States had taken a hostile action against Pyongyang. — Reuters
